scouting report A. Vinzant
08/12/17 There are few things I enjoy more than Korean Tacos, so when I found out that the local Korean food truck would be at Friday Night White (an event in downtown Wake Forest) my heart jumped. This is the best bulgogi I've ever had in my entire life. Hands down; regardless of the dish, I've never had bulgogi better than this. I'm tearing up writing about it and I'm prepared to track it down ASAP to get more. It had the traditional sweetness of Korean BBQ and was cooked with just the right amount of char on the meat (Personal preference: I love charred meat) to counter the sweetness with a little bitterness. Each piece was tender and easy to eat; no noticeable fat or chewy parts which was perfect for the taco. It was served on a corn tortilla and topped with an Asian slaw, an onion-cilantro-lime juice mix, tomatoes, and a liiiiittle bit of salsa roja. I could have done without the tomatoes, but they didn't take away from the overall experience. Ultimately, the cilantro-lime juice and the great slaw is what helped to put these tacos over the top. I know the picture isn't great, but I don't think any picture could do this dish justice. It took so much will power to not devour these within 60 seconds and not to make them last a few hours; I was very conflicted. This was the best meal I have had since arriving in Wake Forest and this is certainly a food truck that I'm comfortable driving 15mins+ to track down. They have tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, and a bibimbap that I'm looking forward to trying in the future. This is truly a dish I'd build a franchise around.
