This dessert dish is unlike any other mango sticky rice I've ever experienced before. In fact, I thought it was a mistake when the waiter set it down on the table. It just looked like a large dollop of Cool Whip topped with Rice Krispies! This must be exactly what Chef José Andrés had in mind for his customers, because all it says on the dessert menu to describe this dish is "our surprising version." Surprising, indeed. Unlike your typical mango sticky rice dessert, which is very literal and straightforward, Andrés is very playful and creative with his version with the way he combines frozen (mango), airy (mousse) and crispy (rice) textures with sweet, creamy and tangy flavors in what culminates into a very satisfying end to your meal. Two thumbs up!
