12/14/22 Pork Chop with Fennel Crust at Chez Nous in Charleston, SC. When visiting this great foodie town, I never leave without hitting Chez Nous, as it’s such a unique restaurant, and one of my favorite places to eat in America. With a menu that changes every single day, Chez Nous serves two appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts daily. Brined overnight, this Berkshire pork chop was simply amazing. Crushed fennel seeds adorn each side of the chop before they pan sear it on a cast iron skillet. They finish it off in the oven and serve it along with Borlotti beans (a white bean that turns red/brown when cooked) and sweet, oven roasted Cippoloni onions. The fennel crust really made the pork chop stand out, as it gave it a slight char and crisp to the outside of the chop while still leaving the inside nice and moist. Located in a former house, Chez Nous has indoor and outdoor seating and is open for both lunch and dinner. Awesome service by knowledgeable and friendly servers. Owner and renowned chef Jill Mathias posts the menu for the day each morning on their Instagram and Facebook page along with pictures of each dish. Skip the tourist joints and don’t miss this incredible place when visiting Charleston!! And if you’re really hungry like I am sometimes, pull a Rich Cho and tell them you want the whole menu!!
