A serendipitous bite, I originally ventured to the newly opened Sumo Shack with the intent to try their Philly Cheesesteak and after ordering, the chef brought me a pleasant surprise in addition to my Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. I’d like to introduce everyone to the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Roll. This was my first time ever having something like this. Easily the best egg roll I’ve ever tasted. Inside the roll is Bulgogi ribeye, Korean BBQ sauce (fire), two blends of cheese (havarti/white cheese sauce), sesame seeds, and scallions. The outside fried roll had an epic crunch and I experienced pure explosion with each bite. This reminded me of an extravagant deep fried sushi roll with the immense flavor oozing from the meat + cheese + outer crunch. Definitely sent my tastebuds spinning to heaven and back. I’m super ecstatic I’ve discovered Sumo Shack which has been open for just one month now. This place will enter into my top local restaurant rotation. The chef here is extremely skilled and you can tell he pours his passion into creating some really awesome dishes that taste phenomenal. The creativity, inspiration, and strive for perfection is all the way there. Being such a newly opened restaurant, they’re very open to customer feedback and appreciate the honest reviews. Before an item goes on the menu, it must go through a thorough process of test phases to ensure that it’s 100% complete. Got to appreciate the conscientious nature that goes into each item that’s carefully crafted and thought out. The staff here are wonderful, friendly people. Can’t wait to go back and try their smash burgers, sumo sandwiches, barbecue, fried chicken, and much more on Sumo Shack’s expanding menu. There’s a lot of Korean fusion spin and this is what our town has needed for a while now. I’ll make sure to run this Philly Cheesesteak Egg Roll back as well. It’s a must get and will absolutely become a big time hit. So thankful for the awesome chef and his kind gesture for providing the introduction. Excited for more big time bites at the Sumo Shack. One of the very few pluses from a rough year in 2020.
