scouting report Phil
04/24/19 On a General Tso’s Chicken tear as of late and it recently crept up to my top favorite foods list. Have no idea why or how, but life trends hit you hard and when you least expect it. So after reading @R. Cho’s report on Lam’s Kitchen, I decided to try the most Americanized Chinese dish at an authentic Chinese restaurant. Even the waitress told me to try some traditional Chinese dishes next time. Emphasizing that this isn’t your typical Chinese restaurant. But, I was committed to trying their version of General Tso’s and very happy with my decision. The sauce was not like any other regular general tso’s chicken sauce we’re used to. The one we all are familiar with is sweet and sugary. This one was far from that and had no sweetness to it. It’s actually a house-made specialty brown sauce combining their Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, and General Tso’s Chicken sauces all blended into one. Wasn’t overpowering, or too salty, and it took me back (way back), to when I used to visit my grandmother’s house as a child and she’d take me to this authentic Chinese restaurant and I’d order a similar chicken dish. Can’t recall if it was General Tso’s or not, but chances are obese. Maybe that’s why life is cycling back around and I’ve been on a big time G. Tso’s streak. The quality of chicken was great, lightly breaded, and there were zero hard/crispy pieces. Every piece of chicken was of same quality. Comes with broccoli and white rice on the side. Really looking forward to returning to Lam’s and can’t wait to try the more traditional Chinese dishes they recommended.
