River Roast, set on the banks of the Chicago River in the heart of Downtown Chicago, specializes in roasting huge pieces of meat. My group went with the a whole fish, roasted pork, and several starters and sides, along with this delectable whole chicken. All of the meats were prepared perfectly and tasted really, really good, but there was something about the crisp, salty skin and succulent meat of the chicken that really stood out. The chicken comes to the table whole and a server carves it up tableside (the pic is after carving). Apart from the chicken itself, there is a bed of crispy potatoes underneath that have soaked up the chicken's drippings. They may have been the best bite of the night. Sometimes it can be tough to get good food that is good for sharing with a group, but Rover Roast has it mastered - you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.
