04/04/18 Los Tacos No.1 is serving up some of the best tacos east of the Mississippi. I’ve been to their location at Chelsea Market (always a must when in NYC) as well as their spot right off the main drag near Times Square. The menu is so simple, yet delicious every single time. As much as I love a good carne asada or pollo taco, adobada is hard for me to pass up. Los Tacos No.1’s rendition is right on point: first, choose a corn or flour tortilla (corn all day, unless it’s a fish taco), and they fill it with marinated pork (so juicy, great flavor, just the right amount of heat - no salsa is even really necessary, but the taco comes with sauce on it), fresh onion, cilantro and a bit of pineapple. The pineapple balances out the spice with some tart sweetness and really caps off an excellent taco. Unlike other tacos I’ve written up in the past, this is definitely of the smaller variety. If you’re really hungry, plan on ordering at least 4-5 of these puppies.
